Pontypool Golf Course
With breath taking views out towards the Severn, Pontypool golf course is one of the most challenging golf courses in South Wales.
The course is an 18 hole, par 69 golf course measuring approximately 6000 yards, with challenging par 3's, long par 4's, and 2 par 5's.

Course update from Agronomist site visit 8th October
Following my most recent visit to Pontypool Golf Club on Thursday 8th October 2020, I was very pleased with the current condition of the greens and the overall presentation of the Golf Course. In the 4 years I have been associated with the club the greens are in the best health I have seen;
The Greens are firm considering the recent heavy rainfall, with a dense sward, healthy colour and good growth rate for the time of year. It is also encouraging that the greens are currently disease free and the green staff have not had to spray a fungicide for disease control in over 2 years now. When I started visiting the club in 2016, 6 applications of fungicide had to be applied to the greens. This improvement to the greens and reduction in disease is a testament to the hard work and the structured approach the green staff have taken to managing the greens in recent years. The greenstaff have also reduced the Organic Matter (thatch) content, this will; improve water percolation rates following heavy rain, reduce disease pressure and improve the playability of the greens. The greenstaff have achieved this by:
Scarification
Regular Aeration – Solid Tining with the Toro Procore
An Organic approach to fertilising thus reducing the amount of Nitrogen actually applied
Applications of Sand Top Dressings
It is important to keep up these efforts in order to keep the greens healthy and performing well heading into the wet winter months. Please continue with your investment of time and effort into improving the playability of the Golf Course.
Kind Regards
Rhys Norville
